HRIS Consultant.

Full time. Remote, based in Ireland

The role can be fully remote, but you must be based in Ireland. We will not entertain applications from anyone who is not resident in the Republic of Ireland.

The role

Nova helps HR leaders choose the right HR system and then builds it for them. Diagnostics, requirements, vendor selection, configuration, data migration, integrations, testing, go-live and adoption. Our clients are 300 to 2,000+ person businesses in Ireland, the USA, the UK and mainland Europe.

This is the first rung on our career ladder. You will learn how to run an HR technology diagnostic, work out what a business actually needs, find the systems that fit, and then build them properly. All on real client projects, with experienced people reviewing your work.

Where this sits

Our career ladder runs: HRIS Consultant, Senior HRIS Consultant, HCM Implementation Lead, Principal HCM Consultant. Seniority here means harder builds, broader platform authority and more say in how we deliver. It does not mean managing people or selling work.

You will work alongside our HCM Implementation Leads, and your work will be guided and reviewed by them, along with input from your manager and the wider team.

What you will do

Diagnose and select

Run the early phase of client engagements. That means a current-state review of what a client has today, in numbers, and a structured requirements exercise with their HR team covering both functional needs, the things the system has to do, and non-functional ones, the security, integration, reporting and data residency constraints that decide whether a system is actually viable.

You will sit with HR teams who often have not done this before, and part of the job is guiding them through it. Most clients do not arrive knowing what they need. They arrive knowing something is not working.

You will build the requirements into a weighted scoring model, coordinate and facilitate vendor demonstrations against scripted scenarios, score what you see, and draft the selection report and business case that goes to the client’s leadership team. A Lead reviews and owns the final report until you are ready to own it yourself.

You will also demonstrate the platforms we deliver, so clients can see how a real configuration works rather than a sales deck.

Deliver

Start on HiBob, supporting live implementations: configuration, data migration templates, validation, test scripts and UAT support. You will be in client sessions from early on, taking notes, answering questions and running parts of the session yourself as you find your feet.

As you build confidence you will take on Personio and Cezanne HR work, and you will be the person on the team who knows more than one platform properly. That is a rare and valuable thing in this market, and it is the fastest route to Senior here.

Over time you will take smaller engagements end to end, with a Lead reviewing rather than running.

One thing we care about more than anything else

We want the squeaky wheel. The person who asks the awkward question in the workshop, who messages their Lead on day two to say they do not understand why the client wants it configured that way, who flags a problem when it is small and annoying rather than when it is large and expensive.

Quiet does not work here. Our team is remote and our clients are in four countries, so nobody can tell what you are thinking unless you say it. If your instinct is to go away and figure it out alone rather than ask, this is not the right place for you, and we would rather both of us found that out now.

What we are looking for

  • You ask questions constantly. You would rather look uninformed for ten seconds than get it wrong for three weeks
  • Two or more years in HR operations, payroll, HR systems or software implementation. You do not need to have run an implementation
  • Evidence you are good with systems. That might be configuring an HRIS, building something awkward in a spreadsheet, running a payroll process end to end, or admin on any business platform
  • Properly comfortable with data. Messy files, reconciling numbers, spotting what is wrong before anyone tells you
  • You can hold a room. You will be asking an HR team questions they have not thought about, and running sessions where people disagree with each other
  • You write clearly to people who do not know the system, and you can put a recommendation on a page without hiding behind hedging
  • Platform experience on HiBob, Personio, Cezanne HR, Dayforce, Workday, SuccessFactors or similar is an advantage. We will certify you on ours

No HR qualification required. What matters is that you care what it feels like to be the HR team on the other side of a bad go-live.

What this role is not

  • You are not on your own. Every piece of your work is reviewed until you are ready for it not to be
  • You do not do business development, sales or commercial negotiation. You will scope what a client needs, not what it costs them
  • You do not own the final selection recommendation. You build it and draft it. A Lead signs it off until you have the track record to sign it yourself
  • You are not on site every week. Remote-first, with client visits when needed and team onsite in Sligo roughly monthly

Development

Certification on HiBob, then Personio and Cezanne HR. Training on our own diagnostic and selection method. Fortnightly one to ones with your practice lead and a quarterly with the Director. A defined route to Senior HRIS Consultant, with the step being your first engagement delivered end to end.

Salary

€35,000 to €45,000 depending on experience, plus benefits.

How we hire

An application, a conversation, a practical exercise based on real client work, and a call with the people you would work alongside.

The exercise is scored on the questions you ask as much as the answer you give. The brief we send you will be incomplete on purpose.

Use AI tools if you want to, we do here every day. You will be asked to walk through your reasoning on anything you submit, including where you disagreed with what the tool gave you.
